Why Your Clothing is Destroying Your Testosterone Levels

Is your clothing destroying your testosterone levels? You may not have heard recently but there is currently a global epidemic of plunging testosterone levels for men. According to researchers, since the 1980s the average levels of the male hormone has been dropping by 1 percent a year.

Even anecdotally this is not surprising. I mean just look around. Weak,
frail, effeminate men abound. But even for men who appear “normal”, hiding in the shadows are lab results that would say otherwise.

Not feeling yourself these days? Lethargic, depressed, unmotivated? Theses are all symptoms of low T.

There are a number of reasons why testosterone levels can drop. Some possible causes include:

  1. Aging: Testosterone levels naturally decrease with age.
  2. Obesity: Being overweight or obese can lead to lower testosterone levels.
  3. Lack of exercise: Physical activity helps to boost testosterone levels, so a lack of exercise could contribute to a decrease.
  4. Poor sleep: Testosterone production is closely tied to sleep, so not getting enough quality sleep can lower testosterone levels.
  5. Stress: Chronic stress can interfere with the body’s hormone production, potentially leading to lower testosterone levels.
  6. Certain medications: Some medications, such as steroids and opioids, can reduce testosterone levels.
  7. Medical conditions: Certain medical conditions, such as hypogonadism and pituitary gland disorders, can cause testosterone levels to drop.

BUT there is one more reason that is rarely talked about.

Your clothing is destroying your testosterone levels.

I am nowhere near qualified to address all the potential causes but one interesting bit of info I’ve learned is that endocrine disruptors in our clothing may actually have a major effect on our hormonal health.

Polyester could be the major culprit here. It’s in everything. It compromises the vast majority of the cheap mass produced clothing made in Asian sweatshops. Skeptics will say that there is no actual evidence but that is not true.

Check out this video by Dr. Paul Saladino. He explains it perfectly.

So with all that being said lets take a closer look at some common menswear items that could be harming us. I’ll also provide some alternatives that look great and keep the jewels in optimal health.

Underwear

I imagine that of all the culprits out there your polyester boxer briefs would be number one on this list. Athleisure companies like Lululemon, Nike, and Adidas own a huge piece of the market these days. Almost all of these brands hawk polyester underwear and they are incredibly popular. The worst part is they are almost always produced in third world sweat shops and they give zero fucks when it comes to your health.

The Alternative

Pact – 100% cotton boxers

Under Shirts

Just like underwear this category is no different. Some of these shirts are actually ridiculously expensive considering the potential consequences of wear.

The Alternatives
