How To Dress Like a Grown Man

I think we can all remember that particular time in our life when we wanted to enhance our style game.

We were young, inexperienced and really had no idea what the hell we were doing. If you were lucky you had a dapper older brother or cool uncle who could show you the ropes. I was not one of these people.

Thankfully a little thing called the internet came along and provided salvation for many (at least for me). I would spend hours devouring content on style blogs and web forums. I would even study online stores trying to recreate styles I saw on some really, really, really ridiculously good looking model.

Now that you’ve grown up you want to “level up” to grown man style.

Follow these tips below and you’ll be well on your way!

1.  Avoid most trends

especially shit like this

Every year some ridiculous trend seems to come out of nowhere and make its way onto the fringes of mainstream style. It may be tempting to experiment with the most “lit” styles but 99% of the time you’ll just end up looking like a tool.

Take the time to educate yourself on classic mens style. Only then should you test the waters and take risks on “fast fashion”.

2. Avoid super tight clothing….especially jeans

RIP manhood

Look there’s nothing wrong with slim fitting jeans, hell I actually recommended it. But there is a huge difference between a nice fitting pair of dark denim and spray on cotton castration. These jeans will literally kill your manhood. Completely serious. Studies have shown that super tight pants can decimate your sperm count and fertility!

Oh need another reason… they look fucking ridiculous.

Opt for a pair of slim fit denim that accentuates your natural lines without crushing your fruit basket.

3. Ditch the graphic Tee

When finally graduating to grown man style I think one of my first closet casualties was the Graphic Tee. It wasn’t easy considering 90% of my wardrobe consisted of Lucky Brand T shirts and Gap carpenter jeans!

Now there’s nothing wrong with the occasional vintage T or sentimental piece here and there but they should definitely not make the bulk of your daily wear.

If you are going to wear a T you really can’t go wrong with a solid pocked or V neck.

4. Update Your Haircut

I know this may be hard for many but lets be honest, I still see way too many dudes rocking “The Ross”  or some other dated cut they’ve had since high school.

Spikey styles with way too much cheap dollar store product is not a good look for the grown ass man.

If you’re looking for inspiration i really suggest researching classic mens hairstyles. Most of the timeless looks hold today as they would 50 years ago.

5. Dress like your grandpa (did)

grandpa style

When I say dress like gramps I mean dress like gramps about 50 years ago. Please don’t go out and grab some air Nike Air Monarchs and triple pleated khakis.

Cropped pants, affliction tees and jeggings did not exist. Just great fits and grown man bad assery.
