Dad and style. Two words that are not exactly synonymous with each other. For many of us dad style invokes images of polyester shirts, baggy, super relaxed fit Wranglers and Nike Air Monarchs.

Some of us may have been lucky enough to have Don Draper as a style role model but for a vast majority it was more likely Jerry Seinfeld.

Style Violation: The Square Toe Shoe

Trends come and trends go and sometimes, like an unwanted house guest, they just never leave.

Sometime in the mid 90’s the square toe shoe arrived and never left. Pushed by designers like Steve Madden, Stacy Adams and pretty much every major shoe brand they became an American footwear staple.

To be honest the square toe can’t even be considered a trend at this point. Just an abhorrent style choice.

Style Violation: The Golf Polo

Don’t be that guy.

As a veteran of American office space culture I’ve witnessed countless style atrocities. Over the years the one offense that seems to rear its head over and over again is the golf polo.

Golf polos (or other sweat collecting athletic shirts) have no business in the workplace (unless your name is Tiger Woods). Just because a shirt has a collar on it does not make it appropriate for casual Friday or your next blind date for that matter.
